| because theres not enough room to clear the back firewall. the back of the turbine is already pretty close to the firewall. its a tight turn to get the pipes to go down and not touch the firewall. the split downpipes make the turn as sharp as possible and they come close. if you were to make your own 3" downpipes, you wont be able to turn sharp enough to clear the firewall without having a straight leg coming off the turbine. an option would be to get oval 3" mandrel but i haven't seen one that bends the oval section the right dimension (check burnsstainless.com to see what i mean). so if its hard enough to make a regular ass 3" downpipe clear, imagine adding that 2-3" with that adapter.
